Windblown may not be as popular as developer Motion Twin’s previous game, Dead Cells, but it still deserves your attention. The co-op roguelike is packed with fast-paced action, gorgeous visuals, and some great mechanics that make it a worthy entry into the genre. It also just got a new update with some great new improvements and mechanics, and it’s something that should help a lot for those playing on the Steam Deck.
With this update, we now have in-game upscaling support. Motion Twin added FSR 1.0 into the game, allowing us to upscale and save on performance. The game already played pretty well without it, but with upscaling, we may be able to push for higher framerates and lower battery drain. I’m not sure why they chose FSR 1.0 and didn’t try to go for the newest FSR (3.1) or XeSS, but it’s still in early access, so we will hopefully see it before launch.
The update also includes the ability to remove certain memories from your run to tailor your experience more, new Timed Chests that can be unlocked if you make it to the end of the level in time, new skins, incentivizing new biomes, some visual changes here and there, mouse aiming enhancements, and more.
