About Steam Deck HQ
Settings, reviews, news, and guides for the Steam Deck and Steam Machine, written by people who play on them every day.
When the Steam Deck came out, there was an insane amount of excitement and an endless idea of possibility. Now, with it in hand, that feeling is exemplified by the open nature of Linux and integration of SteamOS. With it being so open though, there are lots of settings and configurations that can be done to fine-tune everyone’s experience.
Steam Deck HQ was created with the idea to find out the best ways to configure not only games, but everything deck related. The goal is to provide information on performance of games on the deck and a starting point for configurations with different priorities, give a way to request specific games to review, tutorials for setting up games and programs, and much more down the line.
We hope to keep improving the website as time goes on and welcome any suggestions you may have! A lover of gaming since 4, Noah has grown up with a love and passion for the industry. From there, he started to travel a lot and develop a joy for handheld and PC gaming. When the Steam Deck released, it just all clicked.
Utilizing his love of writing and staying up to date with the video game industry, as well as his past experience as a streamer, Noah created SteamDeckHQ with the intention of being a Steam Deck hub that houses news, guides, and performance reviews for games with multiple tested groups of settings to help others get the most out of their devices.
Noah loves story-heavy games (RPGs and JRPGs included), as well as sandbox games and indies. His favorite all time series is Kingdom Hearts, but other than replaying it for the 200th time, you can catch him enjoying RimWorld and trying out new indie titles.

I have been playing video games from a young age. It started with 2 games for the PS1, Rugrats: Search for Reptar and Spider-Man. After only having those games for several years I (thankfully) received Spyro: Ripto's Rage as a gift. From there my collection grew as the years passed. Now I'm a thirty-something and video games continue to be my main hobby. Nowadays, I play a little bit of everything, but my favorite game is Celeste. I'm hoping to get into game development in the future but for now, I enjoy writing about them.

By day, an analyst and writer; by night, a streamer; and always a staunch defender of the often-debated Final Fantasy XIII, Nick’s online persona blends sharp attempts at humour with a passion for gaming.

Born and raised in England, United Kingdom, Oliver began playing video games at an early age, starting with the SNES console and Commodore Amiga computer. He has owned every console from Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony since, and is very interested in the future of portable technology, such as handheld gaming systems, portable power stations/banks, and portable monitors. Seeing just how far we can push these devices.
Oliver tends to get more enjoyment out of testing games and seeing how well he can get them to run on lower-end hardware than he does out of playing through games these days. However, he does occasionally dabble in the odd retro game here and there.
His favourite genres of games are Racing, Simulation, Management, and Sandbox Survival games. Notable examples include Euro/American Truck Simulator, Stardew Valley, and Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe.
