Upcoming RPG Sea of Stars Will Have Steam Deck Support

After having the pleasure of reviewing Chained Echoes, a Twitter user introduced me to a similar game that immediately took my attention, Sea of Stars. This incredible looking turn-based RPG is due out in 2023 and looks to be inspired by classic RPGs like Chrono Trigger.

After seeing this game, I was curious about any support on the Steam Deck. I reached out to Sabotage Studio, who also made The Messenger, to inquire about support. They messaged me back as well stating that, although it is too early to confirm details relating to gamepad and accessibility options, they have implemented and tested optimizations for the Steam Deck and plan to make it compatible on Day 1.

This is super awesome to see and it is great hearing more developers, especially more known ones like Sabotage, take care in supporting the Deck. You can wish-list Sea of Stars on Steam now!

This and Chained Echoes have been on my steam wish list since way before the deck was a think. Super pleased that decks exist and I won’t need to buy a switch copy for these exciting 16 bit indie rpgs.

Oh snap, I’ll need to add that to my watch-list. Thanks!

  • Game does look fun even though I’m not a Turn-based fan. Looking forward to play it on the Deck.
