Two days ago, Epic was giving away a fantastic top-down roguelike called Kill Knight, and it seems like they are continuing the trend of great roguelikes to give away! [REDACTED] is the next free game that Epic is giving away for the 2024 holidays, and it’s definitely one you won’t want to miss out on.

In our review, we noted how the fast-paced combat and variety of upgrades keeps the gameplay fresh, and even though the world was a bit repetitive and it ended a bit too soon, it’s still a ton of fun to play, especially on the Steam Deck.

The game is rated Steam Deck Verified, and although it doesn’t have a ProtonDB rating yet, we can confirm it is fantastic to play on the go. With a couple of changed settings, we can hit 60 FPS on a TDP limit of 8 without any upscaling at all. It is a joy to play on the Deck, and developer Striking Distance Studios has done a great job with this title.

You can get [REDACTED] on Epic for the next 24 hours, so make sure to pick it up quickly before it goes away!

  • I can’t seem to get this working on my Deck.. what proton version did you run? I installed via Heroic and it starts to launch but then crashes

I have a similar issue, it gets to the menu screen but will not respond to buttons or mouse clicks (proton 9 and experimental)

You need to boot it from the desktop mode and accept the epic terms pop up then it will work in both modes

    • Got the same problem with Heroic (it crashes with an Unreal error). Don’t think it’s a proton problem, since I got it running with Junk-Store and Lutris (after installing the latest VC_redist.x64.exe manual)
