ARC Raiders is now Steam Deck Verified, thanks to Proton 10 now being the stable Proton version by default.

Proton 9 had struggles with running ARC Raiders. In my testing, it crashed upon booting the game, and we had to run Proton GE to play, but now that Proton 10.0-3 is the latest “stable” version of Proton, Steam Deck players should be able to boot straight into the game with no tinkering (and you can, I just tested it).

Thanks to this Proton update, the game has now been officially Steam Deck Verified. The game runs surprisingly well on the Steam Deck, considering how it’s rather graphically impressive. You may not want to play a competitive shooter like this on a small screen combined with upscaling technology, but it’s an option for those who are desperate to play the game, even on the go!

Have you been playing ARC Raiders? Will you be trying it out on the Deck now that it’s verified? Let us know in the comments!

Oliver began playing video games at an early age, starting with the SNES console and Commodore Amiga computer. Nowadays, his interest is in the future of portable technology, such as handheld gaming systems, portable power stations/banks, and portable monitors. And seeing just how far we can push these devices.

  • I’ve been wondering about this on Steam Deck. I read it has cross platform progression, so it’d be great to be able to jump between PS5 and SD, especially if it plays well like the other commenters are saying.

  • I play this exclusively on the Steam Deck and absolutely love it. I feel as though I play it better.

  • I’ve logged over 150 hrs since release, the vast majority on the steam deck. Plays great!
